![]() ![]() In the case of Mario 64 there is a lot known about it, and even more today with that decompilation. ![]() This also means meaningful ROM ripping like we might do for disc based games, PC games, the DS and so forth is less "see what files we can swap out or live without" and more "spend 15 hours of intense skilled work and maybe still get nothing". Everything is pieced together by the devs without an easy way to explode it into different files. The N64 is like most cartridge based systems older than the DS in that it has no file system. It is also likely not a compression issue as much as something the console has to handle throughout it all - it is not a "I just need to get it on the disc/under the limit for attachment" as much as it has to read it all the time to run the game. Personally I would see about making a good emulator or hacking the injection one to handle it but that would be proper work. I can do the general discussion but have no experience with the hacks in question and generally find injection to be meh so pay even less attention to that.
